April DiDonna, living in Washington, USA, and assistant store manager at Wendy’s, came up with an idea to tell her customers that she loves them. This was to ensure that the drive-thru customers at Wendy leave with a smile after collecting their orders.
If any customers reciprocate the gesture, she puts a tally on the wall.
So far there are over 2,500 tallies on the wall.
“What I feel and what I believe is that if people can hate for no reason, then why can’t I love?
The first customer was so impressed that he wrote about it in the customer survey." DiDonna read the survey and decided to continue with the initiative. The next day she met a woman and told her she loved her. The woman cried in her car and thanked April for such a gesture because her husband and brother had died recently.
"I could empathize with her because my own husband died in July 2019. I’ve risen, and I’m just going forward spreading love. I feel like a lot of the community enjoys it. A lot of people are now driving up to the speaker and telling us that they love us before we even take their order. There has been at least one customer who responds in kind every day since then. It is really nice to see the positivity and the love that is flowing. People need to know that you don’t need to hate people, and all you need to do is to spread love. Love will be the way if we open our eyes and choose to see that love is the answer.”
