“Need of the hour is to serve the humanity and serve the people.

I am Suneel Mittal, Station House Officer (SHO) Najafgarh, Delhi. The area comprises mostly of daily-wage labourers. The police are responsible to contribute towards making lives easier for the people.

We, the people in Najafgarh, have always lived as one family. Whenever there is any festival, we all celebrate together. Over the years people of the area have collected ‘Daan’ (donations). And now is the right time to put all money to use.

My team has been cooking food and distributing the same along with milk and medicines to the needy. We are providing food to over 5,000 people all day every day. We call it ‘Narayana Seva’ (i.e. service to the poor is service to Narayana - Vedic Supreme God).

Our selfless contribution is noticed and appreciated by a lot of people. Indian Wrestlers Sushil Kumar and Babita Phogat joined us in our vision to help the needy. Our Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Indian Cricketer Virender Sehwag have also appreciated our efforts.

We feel happy that we are privileged to do our bit.

Recently, we got a call from someone that there was an old blind couple who did not have access to food. My team and I rushed to the location with food and medicines.

Additionally, we have shared our personal number with people and given them the comfort that they can call us at any hour of the day for any issues that they have. The most important part in today’s phase is to be kind and be more empathic towards the other person. Delhi Police is making sure we stay calm and solve all problems our people are facing. We are also roaming in streets in our PCR (Police Control Rooms) Vans to educate people about Coronavirus and precautionary measures.

My family is very supportive. Whenever we speak, they boost my morale and say, “the society has given a lot to us. It is the time to serve the society. The entire world is one family”.”

You Humanity pays respect and gratitude to Suneel Mittal and the entire Delhi Police for going above and beyond to contribute towards Humanity.
